The Nuremberg Trials are the most famous military tribunal in history that might not have taken place. The Allies did not want a trial of the Nazi political elite, believing that it was sufficient to deal with the German authorities without an investigation.
Despite the displeasure of Roosevelt, Churchill and other Western politicians, the leadership of the Soviet Union organized a public international trial of the leaders of Nazi Germany anyway. The Nuremberg Trials began on November 20, 1945 and is probably the most important trial in the history of mankind.
